Mountain Biking is a popular sport and pastime in the Comox Valley, but for Rebecca Nicol it’s more than that.

Port Alberni blanked the Comox Valley Glacier Kings 3-0 Tuesday at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.

Isfeld Secondary hosts the annual Ice Invitational basketball tournament Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10.

Arran Arthur of the Comox Valley joined the team from the Czech Republic for the second time at the World Ringette Championships. The first time was in Burnaby at the 2019 tournament. Espoo, Finland hosted the 2022 championships. Both times, her team won the bronze medal. She won an MVP award in 2019, and scored a goal at this year’s tourney.

The land use agreement between Mosaic Forest Management and the United Riders of Cumberland (UROC) has been renewed, allowing non-motorized recreation on Mosaic’s private forest lands near Cumberland.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings won a pair of weekend games, both 4-3 in overtime, over the Peninsula Panthers, the second-place team in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League South Division.

Eight Comox Valley athletes qualified to represent Canada at the Age Group World Championships (40-and-older) held within the London Marathon. More than 40,000 runners took part in the Oct. 2 event that started in Greenwich Park, wound back-and-forth along the River Thames, and finished at St James’ Park.

The Comox Valley Road Runners are hosting the annual Jingle Bell Run, a fundraising event for the Comox Valley Food Bank on Sunday, Dec. 4.

The Comox Valley Paddlers Club is excited to announce it is has returned to hosting live meetings at the Lion’s Den in Comox at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month from October to May. The location is 1729 Comox Ave., lower level accessed off Nordin Street.

There is a rapidly growing sport surging through Canada and North America, and it has landed in the Comox Valley. It’s a cross between ping pong, badminton and tennis. Played on a badminton-sized court with a lower net, a wiffle ball, a short-handled paddle. and can be played indoors or outside…..pickleball!
