With less than two weeks left, the Mount Washington Freestyle Ski Team is hoping people can push their home peak to the top spot in this year’s Mackenzie Top Peak contest.

The contest is looking to crown Canada’s most invested ski community, an honour that comes with a $100,000 investment from Mackenzie Investments. Mount Washington is currently in third place, following Quebec’s Stoneham Mountain Resort in second, and Mont Adstock in first, also located in Quebec.

“As you can imagine, this kind of cash prize would be a game changer for our club for improving the facilities and training opportunities for our athletes,” said ski club mom Elaine Popove in an email.

The club is a small, volunteer-led, non-profit program for skiers between the ages of 7 and 17. Popove’s son Tyson has been part of the club for years, and has improved significantly thanks to the club and coaches.

To vote in the contest, visit . People can vote every 24 hours until March 3.

“We need to stay in the top three to be considered to win the $100k,” Popove said. “We are in a hard-fought battle with three ski resorts from Quebec so every single vote helps.”
