On Dec. 9, The Comox Valley RCMP was asking for the public's help to find 76-year-old Wayne Jardine, who was last heard from on the evening of December 9, 2024.

Jardine contacted a family member at approximately 5:45 p.m., stating that his vehicle had broken down and he was walking in the area of Cumberland Road and Royston Road in Courtenay. He sounded disoriented, and police believe he may require medical attention. Jardine was not likely dressed appropriately for the cold weather.

Further investigation indicates that Jardine has likely been missing since the evening of December 8. His cell phone battery is believed to have died, and his exact location is unknown.

Jardine is associated to a grey 2002 Kia Rio with BC license plate SJ047D. He is described as 5’7” tall, heavy set, with grey facial hair. His clothing is unknown.

Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue teams were assisting with the search.
