According to a post made on X (formerly Twitter) by BC Ferries, the Baynes Sound Connector is currently being held near Buckley Bay. The stoppage was caused by an active fishing vessel’s anchor line entangled with the ferry’s cable.

A recent update made at 3:15 p.m. further mentions that the Coast Guard is currently en route to help solve the situation.

The incident happened at 1:05 p.m., on Sept. 25.

BC Ferries announced shortly after that they are actively working to address the issue and aim to resume their operations as quickly as they can.

The Record has reached out to BC Ferries but has yet to hear back from the corporation.

More information will be provided as the situation evolves.
