Trying out the new mat is Nell McGarrigle of Courtenay.

The Courtenay and District Fish and Game Protective Association held a raffle to raise money to purchase MobiMats. They reach from the parking lot at the campground caretaker and extend to the edge of Comox Lake.

The funding for the MobiMats came from the proceeds of the “Family Adventures in the Great Outdoors” raffle. With the aid of the MobiMats, the 100 foot run allows easy access to the beach area for wheelchairs, walkers and strollers.

Prior to the MobiMats installation, those with mobility aids and strollers had a hard time navigating the dirt, rocks and sand along the beachfront.
