Comox Valley RCMP seek public assistance following incident in Union Bay

On Nov. 30, at approximately 10:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious male attempting to climb onto the second-floor deck of a residence.

The homeowner was alerted by loud banging on the side of her house. When she stepped onto her deck, she encountered a male wearing what appeared to be a gas mask. She reported that after encountering him briefly, he attempted to climb up to the second-floor deck where she was standing. She immediately retreated indoors and contacted 911.

Frontline members, Police Dog Services and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section were deployed to the scene. Despite extensive efforts, including area searches and forensic examination of the scene, the suspect was not located.

Investigators are asking residents on or around the 5500-block of 7th Street in Union Bay to review their surveillance systems, doorbell cameras, or dash cams for any unusual activity recorded around the time of the incident.

Anyone with relevant footage or information is asked to contact the Comox Valley RCMP at (250) 338-1321, referencing file number 2024-18226.
