The Comox Valley Family Services Association (CVFSA) celebrated its 50th anniversary of providing support to the region鈥檚 children, youth and families, on the night of May 3.
The non-profit marked this half-century milestone with its first annual fundraiser: a 鈥�70s-themed dine-and-dance dinner.
The event was a great success for CVFSA鈥檚 executive director Diane Daigle.
鈥淚t was amazing, even overwhelming, and beyond expectations,鈥� said Daigle. 鈥淲e had a full house. The music, by Time Well Wasted, was amazing, the food was excellent, and the venue was beautiful.鈥�
Amassing $10,051, the executive director stated that the total amount raised exceeded the non-profit鈥檚 expectations.
鈥淲e had an online auction and it (also) exceeded our expectations,鈥� said Daigle. 鈥淚t appears our silent auction made鈥� close to $6,000. Our goal for the auction was $4000.鈥�
Thankful for all the donations, Daigle explained that every dollar will go towards cementing the non-profit鈥檚 presence in the Valley.
鈥淥ur long-term plan is that we need a new building because our (current one) has many issues that we need to deal with,鈥� said Daigle. 鈥淲e鈥檙e also constantly looking for funding to (enhance existing) programs and get more services.鈥�
Recognizing that this event couldn鈥檛 have been possible without the community coming together, Daigle thanked everyone who made this event possible.
鈥淚t鈥檚 all about the people who have supported us through this process and the folks who have attended the event,鈥� she said. 鈥�(I also want to thank) our staff and board members.鈥�
