The first-ever Baby Race will be part of the festivities at Comox's Nautical Days.

The event will see six babies crawling from one end to an awaiting caregiver at the other side. Part of the fun is seeing how the babies approach the race. While some might crawl right across, others may take a longer route.

The race will see prizes going to the top three crawlers. The first baby to finish will receive a $75 gift certificate to Kradles on 5th Street, and second place will receive a $50 gift certificate to Podlings, and the third place will get $25 to Planet Kids in Comox.

The babies start moving at 4:30 p.m. on Aug 5.

It’s free to sign up for the event but only six babies will take part. The event is sponsored by Boogie Boots.

To register, email info@boogieboots.ca with the subject line  "Baby Race Participant."
