The free Simms Park Summer Concert series season kicks off with the smooth jazz sounds Ralph Barrat and the Sharp Seven this July 9 at 7 p.m.

Take a seat as the band transports you to the golden era of jazz. Enjoy songs such as “Lady is a Tramp”, “Take the A-Train” and “Fly Me to the Moon” just to name a few.

This dynamic seven-piece combo includes Ralph Barrat on vocals with a three piece horn section including Jake Masri (trumpet), Jeff Agopsowicz (trombone), and Rachel Fuller (alto). The band also includes Grahame Edwards (bass), Michael Eddy (keyboard) and Neil Clark (drums).

Simms Millennium Park is located by the 5th Street Bridge and across from Lewis Park. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket.

Other featured Simms Park performances on Sundays at 7 p.m. include the Nanaimo Concert Band on July 23, Fiddlejam on July 30, Country Pickin’ on August 13, Duo of Duos on August 20, and Completely Creedence on August 27.
