Dear editor,
I just want to express my opinion that I have found a concern.
For over 25 years, I have driven from Surrey to North Vancouver for work on Highway 1. I have seen many changes with the traffic flow.
One thing that concerns me is what does HOV stand for? It means "high-occupancy vehicle" lane. When this lane was established, there was many carpooling vans and people sharing rides and the flow was excellent.
Now since we have all the electric vehicles and hybrids, they are allowed to go into the HOV lanes with only one person. They carry a "OK" sticker which allows them access.
Many business trucks go into this lane as well. It clearly states buses, cars with 2 people +, motorcycles and OK ( which clearly is not OK).
I wondered if the Minister of Transportation had any idea of what is going on. Is not carpooling better for the environment, or just keep going with the electric and we can all go anywhere?
