Dear Editor,
Brennan Day has been named the local Conservative candidate for the October provincial election. Day should be congratulated for his recognition that the tried, and failed. Techniques of stronger laws, harsher treatments to deal with drugs, crime, and mental health, don’t work.
However, his emphasis on implementing tougher penalties for repeat offenders and to reopen involuntary rehabilitation institutions for people living with addictions and mental health challenges caught my attention.
So did his suggestion that the desired utopia of lower living costs would occur upon the removal of the carbon tax, and that our health care will be fixed by introducing competition.
These ideas told me something else, not discussed. It’s unlikely that listening to scientific findings is high on his list of pastimes. “Day’s dedication to principled conservatism” strikes fear in my heart.
As an alternative to what Day has said, I suggest everyone take the time to watch Michael Moore’s Documentary "Where to Invade Next" on Youtube and see some real possibilities for us all.
