LETTER - Co-ordinator shares gratitude as Courtenay Stocking Project ends

Dear editor,

The Downtown Stocking Project was created over 14 years ago by Teresa Chaney and Michaels Off Main.

This project provided a little bit of holiday cheer, along with some necessary and needed items to our most vulnerable population in the Comox Valley. The Bay Care Society’s Care-A-Van goes out at night to provide needed medical care to the homeless - and generously offered to ensure these stockings are delivered to those most in need.

We thank you all for your generous support and help with this over the years - it could not have been done without you!

I am saddened to tell you that I can no longer continue with the Stocking Project. With the closing of Michaels Off Main, I can no longer take on this project by myself, and can not afford to pay for much of what went into these stockings. I will miss doing this, but I hope that others in our community will continue to do the wonderful things you all do at Christmas for those who have a difficult time coping with the holidays.

A huge thank-you to all my ‘regulars’ who helped me out over the years, and to all who contributed to this project.

Thank you all.

Sincerely,

Terry Chaney
