Dear Editor,
It is now obvious to most Canadians that there is NO dealing with Donald Trump. That man will have his way regardless of any rational arguments put to him or his administration that bely the effectiveness of his policies. It is also apparent that what he says one minute has no bearing on what he says the next. He also loves being THE news cycle of the day so perhaps the best policy is to ignore him and wait until he acts and then retaliate.
Consequently the main issue in the current federal election should not be who can best deal with Trump but who can best Trump-proof Canada. We desperately must reverse the economy destroying policies of the last 10 years that have left us so vulnerable to the impact of his tariffs.
We need to play to our strengths which are our resource industries, minerals, forestry, and energy. We need to complete our east-west infrastructure to deliver those resources not just to all parts of Canada but to port facilities that open us to alternate markets. We also need to get our fiscal house in order by ending the reckless spending of the Liberal Lost Decade.
A change of political parties is necessary, not just a change of prime ministers.
