Armed with just a paintbrush and white paint, View Royal artist Shahab Rahmanian has been creating holiday magic in windows across Greater Victoria for over two decades.
“I love it,” says Rahmanian as he decorates the windows of the Goldstream Gazette office in Langford. “I like to make people feel happy and festive.”
With years of experience under his belt, it doesn't take Rahmanian long to transform the Gazette's windows into a true winter wonderland, adorned with festive bells, a wreath, snow-covered trees and snowflakes.
The professional sign maker, who owns Shahab Sign Design, has been painting windows for the holidays for 25 years.
His first creation was for a bank, who asked Rahmanian to create a festive scene for their windows, which would still allow customers to see inside.
His work was an immediate hit, and demand for Rahmanian's talents quickly snowballed, with his work on display from downtown to the West Shore.
The artist also believes his style of window art has inspired other creatives, who have imitated his designs across Greater Victoria.
His winter scenes suit all tastes, says Rahmanian, who prefers to use his own imagination to create his designs.
"Everyone is different," he says. "But people can find something they like in my designs."
