Hailed by CBC Music as 鈥渙ne of Canada鈥檚 best all-around musicians,鈥� Terra Lightfoot takes the stage on Thursday, Oct. 5, in Courtenay.

The Juno- and Polaris-nominated artist is renowned for her boundless talent and dedication to the craft. She鈥檚 poised to deliver an unforgettable folk/roots/rock show as part of the Blue Circle Series presented by the Sid Williams Theatre Society.

Lightfoot鈥檚 appearance coincides with the release of her highly anticipated fifth full-length album, Healing Power. Set to launch on Oct. 13 under Sonic Unyon Records, it showcases a career-defining collection of songs produced in collaboration with Gus van Go.

鈥淭he healing power of rock 鈥檔鈥� roll is always around us,鈥� says Lightfoot. 鈥淚 felt it when we made the record, and I feel it at our live shows. I hope it will be there at the Sid Williams Theatre, too.鈥�

Healing Power is a testament to Lightfoot鈥檚 ability to push artistic boundaries. Inspired by a transformative moment beneath a tree on a mountaintop in Austria during a solo European tour, the album embodies themes of growth, perseverance and change.

鈥淭he story is that everything comes back around. It was my idea to call the record Healing Power, and I thought of the most healing place that I knew in the world. That tree taught me about perseverance. It was the only tree living at that altitude. It just kept growing. And I knew I had to be like that too: just to keep growing and changing.鈥�

Healing Power is further evidence of Lightfoot鈥檚 capacity to do exactly that. Her decade-plus musical evolution includes marathon tours that have seen her touch down in eight countries across four continents. She has been a supporting act for other bands and musicians including Bruce Cockburn, Blue Rodeo, The Sheepdogs and Willie Nelson. Additionally, Lightfoot conceived, created, curated, produced and co-headlined The Longest Road Show, an all-female touring revue.

The current tour, which includes this performance, marks the latest chapter in her ever-evolving narrative. Backed by a talented band consisting of bassist Eli Abrams and drummer Rob Radford, Lightfoot鈥檚 musical prowess and artistic range will be on full display.

鈥淲e just want everyone to have a good time. These days, just getting out of the house to go see a show is an accomplishment in itself. So we want everyone to leave with a smile on their face.鈥�

Between album work and tour preparations, she鈥檚 seized the opportunity to collaborate on songwriting with esteemed artists Tom Wilson, Colin James and Daniel Lanois.

鈥淭here should be some nice collaborations coming forward from that,鈥� she said.

The tour spans Canada and the western U.S., with dates in Australia and the UK to be announced soon.
