Working together since 1986 in recording and performance projects, Robert Minden and Carla Hallett continue to explore an allusive world of music, storytelling and song.

The instruments are the invented and found sounds of an ever-expanding orchestra of the unlikely: bowed carpenter鈥檚 saws, multiphonic waterphones, blown bottles, floating bowls, yesterday鈥檚 toy piano and the forgotten Theremin. Hallett鈥檚 songs are originals with simple acoustic settings, her lyrics exploring identity and resonance.

Minden and Hallett will perform Songs and Silence on Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Denman Island Community Hall.
