Saskia and Darrel returning to Valley

Saskia and Darrel are ever so grateful to be back home in the Comox Valley after spending a year on the road touring all over Canada as well as Europe.

Saskia and Darrel are ever so grateful to be back home in the Comox Valley after spending a year on the road touring all over Canada as well as Europe.

Their yearly tradition is to connect with their friends, family and fans by presenting a concert Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at St. John the Divine Church in Courtenay and bringing a selection of original, new and old favourite songs to the table for a healthy helping of down-to-earth music.

Tickets are $15/person at Sound Advice Music Store on Cliffe or Jeanie’s Vitamins at the Comox Mall. Everyone is welcome, so if $15 does not fit your budget, your donation will be gladly accepted at the door.

Partial proceeds of this concert will go to the Comox Valley Food Bank.

For more information, call 250-339-4354 or 250-871-4450.

The fact that Saskia and Darrel often tour with Canadian Juno Award winner and music icon Gary Fjellgaard speaks volumes about their abilities.

Fjellgaard is well-known throughout the music industry as being very “fussy” about his sound and the integrity of his show.

This dedication to excellence is one of many lessons learned by this dynamic duo from their years on the road with Fjellgaard.

On their own, they are a powerful presence in their field, winning top-five people’s choice awards, hitting the No. 4 spot on MSN Radio’s national top-30 countdown, and being nominated for album of the year and three times aboriginal artist of the year in Darrel’s home province of Saskatchewan.

Their music is blithely described as Prairie Roots, Canadiana with a little “Dutchgrass” and blues thrown in. An evening full of friendship and laughter, this is a show not to be missed.
