You’re invited to join fellow readers, soak up the congenial Filberg Lodge atmosphere and discuss selected books in the Filberg Readers’ Circle.

Unlike most book groups, you can join in just for the books that interest you.

On Jan. 20 from 7:30 to 9 p.m., a discussion of Broken Ground by Jack Hodgins will be led by Nathalie Jones.

Award-winning Hodgins depicts a pioneer story about returning First World War veterans who have been given parcels of land to farm.

Set on Vancouver Island in Merville, this story witnesses these men’s and women’s struggles to farm and their reminiscences of the recent war. It’s interesting for a fictional take on a slice of local history.

On March 3 from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Meg Giske will lead a talk about Mr. Pip by Lloyd Jones.
