Local poet Rader reading at North Island College from latest collection

North Island College is getting a bit more poetic Wednesday night. The college is proud to present critically acclaimed author, poet and NIC Instructor, Matt Rader, who will read from his latest collection, A Doctor Pedalled Her Bicycle Over the River Arno, April 13 at the Comox Valley campus.

North Island College is getting a bit more poetic Wednesday night.The college is proud to present critically acclaimed author, poet and NIC Instructor, Matt Rader, who will read from his latest collection, A Doctor Pedalled Her Bicycle Over the River Arno, April 13 at the Comox Valley campus. “Rader has quickly gone from being a poet to watch to one of the poets to watch,” states ARC’s Zachariah Wells.  The author of two previous collections of poetry, Living Things and Miraculous Hours, which was a finalist for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award and long-listed for the ReLit Award, Rader’s poems, stories, and nonfiction have appeared in journals and anthologies across North America, Australia, and Europe. His work also boasts nominations for numerous awards, including the Journey Prize, the National Magazine Award, and two Pushcart Prizes.Rader has appeared several times at The Vancouver International Writers Festival and his poems have been read on numerous radio programs including CBC’s The Arts Tonight. A resident of the Village of Cumberland, Rader holds an MFA from the University of Oregon, and teaches creative writing at North Island College.NIC's english department and the Write Here Readers Series is pleased to acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the House of Anansi Press in hosting the book launch and reading of the book.
