Letz Sing sessions will be operating on a drop-in basis for September. In this new format, there will be an eight-week term beginning in October that the public can sign up for, but until then, Letz Sing will be operating in three usual locations every week and the public can drop-in without signing up.
“Come and try us out, or come back if you have been away,” said Letz Sing leader, Tina Filippino, in a press release. “Science has determined that singing with others is good for your mind, body, and spirit. If you need more singing in your life, consider adding Letz Sing to your schedule this fall.”
All sessions start the week of Sept. 9.
Letz Sing is a mix of seasoned singers as well as people who have in the past considered themselves non-singers. “Letz Sing welcomes every voice and believes that with instruction in focusing and deep listening, we can all tune to each other and learn to sing in harmony,” said Filippino. “If you are tentative about your voice, Letz Sing is a good place to venture into the wonderful world of singing with others. If you are a seasoned singer but don’t want to be part of a performance-driven choir this term, come and try us out. You will be surprised by the relaxed atmosphere and how good our harmonies sound.”
All songs, chants and rounds are taught in the age-old tradition of call and response. Each session includes a warm-up for voice and body, instruction on breath and voice, the learning of new material, and time to sing from the growing repertoire of common songs.
“An hour and a half in a Letz Sing session will leave you relaxed and refreshed,” said Filippino.
Letz Sing offers weekly instruction in three locations in the Comox Valley.
Drop-in start dates:
• Monday, Sept. 9, 7 p.m. at Lower Native Sons Hall;
• Tuesday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. at Comox Lions Den, 1729 Comox Ave.;
• Wednesday, Sept. 11, 7:30 p.m. at Halbe Hall, Black Creek.
All September sessions are drop in. Cost is $12; sliding scale available if the fee is difficult.
New eight-week term starts in October.
