The Hornby Festival brings another world-class lineup to Hornby Island this summer from Aug. 3-12, for this multi-genre art and cultural festival.

Experience everything from classical to funk to rock on the outdoor mainstage at The Farm, visit the Community Hall to take one of the Indigenous workshops and discover Indigenous stories under the cultural direction of Elder Barbara Whyte (Billy), Pentlatch knowledge keeper and member of the K’ómoks First Nation, or explore the island and find some ‘Free at the Festival’ programming. Organizers are excited to announce this year that the festival’s classical evenings will now be presented outdoors on The Farm mainstage, with reserved seating.

As part of ‘Free at the Festival, there will be a 20-minute live performance of a mainstage artist around the island during Art In Unusual Places. Listen to artists’ interviews at Live on The Lawn at CHFR 96.5, or bring the kids to a 30-minute, youth-oriented classical performance during Classical Kids, before making heading to the mainstage for an evening at the beautiful, waterfront farm.

Mainstage acts include acclaimed international classical groups such as Isidore String Quartet from New York City and LyricalFest Trio from Boston; Juno-nominated, Vancouver artists iamtheliving; Ndidi O; Five Alarm Funk; and Juno award-winning artists Dear Rouge, Alpha Yaya Diallo, and OKAN.

Check out the 2023 Hornby Fest Mix on Spotify for a curated playlist featuring hits from mainstage lineup. Visit our website to learn about our Hornby Local opening acts, find tickets to the events you love, and grab Festival Passes to take in all our evening performances.

Pre-festival fundraisers

Support the festival before the main event in August at one of the family-friendly fundraisers, including the return of fan favorites that haven’t been seen since 2019. Make sure to attend the Birdhouse Auction, the Celebration of Summer Fundraising Dinner featuring Marc Atkinson and Friends, and the Home and Gardens tour.

Fundraising efforts help keep a connection with the community, and help keep the arts alive, accessible, and compensating artists fairly.

Volunteering has its perks
