The Glacier Grannies are hosting an afternoon of live music at the Marina Park Gazebo on Sunday, Aug.27 from 2-4:30 p.m.

The concert will feature performances by Watershed Band, Duetto Aquillo, and Lyall and Isabelle.

Jane Dunnett, John Brown and Keith Goddard of Watershed Band have played a variety of venues in the Comox Valley. They enjoy performing an eclectic mix of folk, country, rock and blues. They play a variety of instruments: guitar, harmonica, mandolin, bass and lap steel, and enjoy finding opportunities to share their vocals in three-part harmony.

Duetto Aquillo was formed by Monica Maxwell and Jan Adams in 2015 to share their love of classical flute music. The duo has performed at numerous events within the Comox Valley since that time. The name translates to “ Little North Wind.” Adams has performed with the Comox Valley Concert Band (CVCB) for more than 20 years and is a valued musician in musical theatre. Maxwell had been with the CVCB since moving to the Valley in 2013 and spent eight years with the Strathcona Symphony. She teaches flute and has regularly performed in the Valley as well as with various groups in Victoria.

Husband and wife, Lyall Steel and Isabelle Durand, draw inspiration for their songs from Durand’s French background, Steel’s Prairie roots, and years spent in Argentina, Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, and France. Steel describes himself as a classical eclectic creative guitar player, and together they will be singing in French, Spanish and English.

Bring a chair or a blanket and plan to spend a relaxed afternoon listening to some beautiful music.

Donations for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation will be gratefully received.
