Cree multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and storyteller Ed Peekeekoot will perform live in April at the Fallen Alders Community Hall in Royston.

As a seasoned performer, Peekeekoot brings his 鈥渢imeless kind of cool that appeals to audiences of all ages,鈥� states a press release from the British Columbia Old Time Fiddlers. He has a range from "blazing guitar work to foot-stomping fiddle and haunting Native flute 鈥� all sprinkled with his Cree humour and philosophy." 

Peekeekoot鈥檚 performances aim to take his audience on an musical adventure, from country folk to classical and jazz music. 

Peekeekoot is from the Ahtahkakoop Cree First Nation in Saskatchewan where he grew up in a musical family. He now calls Vancouver Island his home. His solo career spans over four decades. He has appeared in concerts, festivals, school performances, corporate events, dances, and retreat gatherings across western Canada and the U.S.

Peekeekoot has been nominated twice as the BC Country Music Association鈥檚 鈥淚nstrumentalist of the Year." His album, 鈥淚n the Key of Cree,鈥� was nominated as 鈥淏est Country CD鈥� at the Aboriginal People鈥檚 Choice Music Awards.

The concert is sponsored by Branch #17 of The British Columbia Old Time Fiddlers as part of the Spring Jamboree. It is taking place April 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
