Crowd pleasing rockin' blues coming to Courtenay's Simms Park July 7

The Thor Jonsson Band will be playing at Simms Park on July 7.

The free Simms Park summer concert series features the Thor Jonsson Band, playing crowd pleasing rockin’ blues, on Sunday, July 7 at 7 p.m.

Thor Jonsson has a passion for the blues and brings a broad range of seasoned electric guitar work from three decades of playing live music. He has played all over the Island in many venues and festivals including the Nanaimo Blues Festival, the Victoria Blues Bash and much more.

Jonsson will be joined by Sean Grieve (keyboards), Sara Varro (drums), Jeremy Sagar (bass guitar and vocals) and an all-star blues jam including Anella, Lorne Feugal, Darryl Duese, Ryder Bachman, Barry Polichek, John Mundi, James Vickers (young blues player), Larry Ayre, Mike Johnson, and Edwin Grieve (please note blues jam players may change).

Other featured Simms Park performances on Sundays at 7 p.m. include Duo of Duos: Saskia Delaronde/Nathan Tinkham & Bruce/Judy Wing on July 21, Kenny Shaw Trio on July 28, the Valley Cats on August 11, TBA on August 18 and the final concert is Stealing Dan on August 25. A Food Bank Drive will also be included as part of the August 25 concert.
