Live theatre is in the park! Have you heard the news? Courtenay Little Theatre will be performing at the Filberg Park Comox Rotary Stage on Sundays, Aug. 15 and 29.
CLT’s mission statement is “We provide opportunities to discover the joy of theatre.” After a pretty quiet year with no live audience productions, we are ready to relaunch the upcoming season with some joy and laughter in this beautiful woodland setting.
Our spirits need to be lifted, and what better way than to laugh at life’s hilarious moments. Actors will be miked so you’ll hear every word. Outdoor seating will be well spaced. Ocean breezes might waft your way and the twittering of birds will only add to the ambiance.
On Aug. 15 at 1 and 3:30 p.m., CLT presents the staged reading of Hidden in This Picture, directed by Val Macdonald. This is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud comedy by Emmy Award-winning playwright Aaron Sorkin.
On Aug. 29 at 1 and 3:30 p.m., CLT presents the staged reading of My Narrator, directed by Sharon Pridham. This is a clever comedy with a conscience, written by award-winning playwright Norm Foster.
As well as the play, the live folk and rock music of the Many Waters Band will entertain audiences before showtime. Make it a full day and explore the lodge and gift shop, visit some pop-up artisan booths, or enjoy a meal at the Summer Kitchen.
Thousands of years ago all theatre was performed outdoors. Today Vancouver has Bard on the Beach and Theatre Under the Stars. Now Comox has Theatre in the Park, perhaps the beginning of a new tradition!
There is limited festival seating and tickets are $20 available online at Event Brite at or at the gate.
