The Comox Valley Children’s Choir is ready to launch its 26th season of song for 2023/2024.

This year the CVCC will feature three different choir opportunities in two different communities with a brand new age group to welcome the youngest singers into the choir family.

Prep Choir ages 6-7 rehearses on Wednesdays in Comox from 3:15–4 p.m., and in Cumberland on Thursdays from 4-4:45 p.m.

“We get together weekly for a short and sweet time where we learn what it’s all about to be in a choir,” reads a press release submitted by CVCC president Carol Anne Parkinson. “From rhythm games to tongue twisters, to singing rounds and partner songs, we get to try a little bit of everything. Plus, we get to perform a few pieces on the big stage at our very own concerts. What’s not to love?”

The cornerstone Children’s Choir is entering its 26th season. Participants meet each week and work on all different parts of musicianship: healthy vocal technique, foundations of music, hand-held instruments, singing games, dancing, teamwork activities, in addition to live performances in different places around the Comox Valley.

Children’s Choir ages 8-10 rehearses on Wednesdays in Comox from 4-5:15 p.m., and in Cumberland on Thursdays from 4:45-6 p.m.

The third group, the Youth Choir (ages 11-17) rehearses Wednesdays in Comox from 5:15-6:45 p.m.

“Our eldest singers are held in high regard as leaders within our organization, and are offered opportunities to grow both musically and as well-rounded human beings part of a musical community,” stated the press release. “We meet each week and build on all different parts of musicianship that are introduced in Children’s Choir.”

Registration is now open, with a limited number of bursaries available.
