The Comox Valley Art Gallery is providing facilitated interactive art stations every Wednesday and Saturday this summer.

The Comox Valley Art Gallery is hosting a series of free all-ages make art workshops through the summer, inspired by the exhibition Together Apart / Under One Roof.

Everyone is welcome to participate in facilitated interactive art stations on the CVAG plaza on Wednesdays, from 2-5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Materials are supplied by CVAG.

The Wednesday art stations coincide with the Downtown Courtenay Summer Street Markets that take place on Duncan Avenue in front of the Gallery. The markets include booths for local farmers, artists and makers.

This Wednesday, July 12, the CVAG plaza will also include a table for public participation in the development of Courtenay’s Strategic Cultural Plan. This is an opportunity to learn more about the cultural plan and participate in a survey to help shape goals and priorities for the future of arts and culture in Courtenay.

CVAG’s summer art stations will run until Sept. 2. Visitors are invited to see the exhibition, learn about the artists’ concepts, and create their own work using materials related to the artists’ practices.

Together Apart / Under One Roof features work by three renowned Canadian artists – Aganetha Dyck, Diana Thorneycroft, and Reva Stone – who have shared a studio space in Winnipeg for almost 30 years.

The exhibition celebrates the distinct practices of each artist, and their enduring relationship as artists, women, and friends. Together and apart, their holistic and feminist relationship binds art and life into an evolving conversation.

CVAG’s exhibitions and make art activities are free, with donations gratefully accepted.

Through the summer, the Gallery is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Thursdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about Gallery programming, visit
