Everyone is invited to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the Comox Valley Art Gallery on Saturday, Nov. 23, starting at 1:30 p.m.
The festivities will also mark the opening of an Art Faire featuring work created by dozens of local artists, and a retrospective installation about the gallery鈥檚 history.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a significant birthday party in two ways,鈥� says Denise Lawson, director of curatorial programming at CVAG. 鈥淣ot only is it 50 years since the Gallery first opened, but the coming year will be the 20th anniversary of our move to our current location at the city鈥檚 old fire hall on the corner of Duncan and Sixth.鈥�
Lawson said Saturday鈥檚 event will be a chance to hear and see more about CVAG鈥檚 history, meet the artists with work in the Art Faire, and purchase locally made gifts for the holiday season.
The gallery will be serving warm apple cider, refreshments, and snacks throughout the afternoon.
The Art Faire and 50|20 Retrospective will run at the Gallery from Nov. 20 to Dec. 23. Normal gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the gallery will also be open until 6 p.m. on Dec. 20 and from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 22 and 23.
