Big E is singalongable

On a recent holiday,  the host of April's Cumberland Coffee House, Erik (The Big E) Eriksson, discovered the formula that probably explains life as we know it: E=MusiC².

(Some other guy came up with a similar formula that describes a relationship between time, mass and space.)

A keyboard player and singer, The Big E performs frequently at the Cumberland Coffee House under his regularly used name, Erik.  (His given name is actually Brynjólfur, but that is only used by people in Iceland when he’s visiting family. Or by local people close to him who can pronounce it. Otherwise, he goes by Erik Eriksson.)

The Cumberland Coffee House is organized by the Cumberland Culture and Arts Society, and happens on the first Sunday of every month at the Cumberland United Church at 2688 Penrith (corner of First).

April’s event will be this Sunday.  Doors open at 6:30, and the music starts at 7 p.m. People who wish to perform on the Open Stage segment (7 to 8 p.m.)  must sign up early to ensure a spot in the program.

There is a coffee social between the Open Stage and the Guest Artist's solo set.

The Big E’s repertoire is eclectic — rock and roll, folk and blues — but the underlying theme is the same — fun, toe-tapping and singalongable.

He is a student of award-winning blues musicians Kenny (Blues Boss) Wayne and Julian Fauth. Their influence is evident in his music, but The Big E has a unique rhythmic style of his own.  Check out Erik and the wide variety of talent at the Coffeehouse this Sunday. Admission is $5.
