Comox Valley Arts, the MIKI’SIW Métis Association, and the community radio station CVOX have announced the launch of Ancestral Echoes: Stories Across Ages, a community podcast program partnering young people with Elders in the Comox Valley.

Six podcast episodes will air, each including the oral traditions of the MIKI’SIW Métis community. Ancestral Echoes features intergenerational exchange through the art of storytelling. This is the first season and it aims to bridge generations, preserve valuable histories, and promote cultural understanding of the Métis people.

The project took place at the Comox Valley Arts Digital Creation Hub, using professional-grade equipment. CVOX played an integral role in the production of the podcast, providing support in the recording, editing, and broadcasting processes.

“We are so grateful to MIKI’SIW, and the amazing participants who were willing to learn with us as we went along,” said Jennifer Casey of Comox Valley Arts in a press release.

"The process of creating Ancestral Echoes has been a beautiful learning experience for everyone involved, from us organizers who learned how to produce an audio show to the youth participants who learned how to conduct interviews, every step of the journey has enriched our understanding and connection with each other.”

The podcast debuts on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
