Tickets Still Available for Randy鈥檚 Perogy Party

Perogy lovers, tickets are going fast for Randy鈥檚 Perogy Party on Saturday, April 15.

The event will feature authentic hand-made perogies prepared by the Comox Valley Ukrainian Cultural Society, kubasa (sausage) and snacks, prize draws, plus live music with classic rockers The Impalas.

The event is a follow-up to last year鈥檚 Spring Social event, hosted by Courtenay鈥檚 Centennial Committee.

The Perogy Party honours the late Randy Wiwchar, the City of Courtenay鈥檚 former Director of Community Services, who passed away in 2016. The event will also celebrate the renaming of the Courtenay Centennial Legacy Fund, now officially known as the Randy Wiwchar Legacy Fund in his memory.

鈥淲e鈥檙e really excited about the event, and all the details are falling into place,鈥� said Centennial Committee member and event organizer Rod Hunter. 鈥淟ast year鈥檚 Spring Social event was sold out, and we鈥檙e aiming for another sold-out crowd this year. It鈥檚 going to be a casual, fun event, just like our friend Randy would have liked.鈥�

The event is happening at the Florence Filberg Centre Conference Hall in Courtenay. Doors open at 5:30, and perogy dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for Randy鈥檚 Perogy Party are $35, available at the Courtenay Recreation Lewis Centre, Florence Filberg Centre, Courtenay City Hall, and Billy D鈥檚 Pub.

The Courtenay Rotary Club will be manning the refreshments, with all profits going to the legacy fund. Partygoers can also try their luck with a 50/50 draw, along with a chance to win great prizes generously donated by local businesses.

All funds raised from the event will help enhance the newly-named Randy Wiwchar Legacy Fund. The fund supports the development of local children and youth through their participation in academic, athletic, cultural, recreational, vocational and other activities provided by non-profit organizations in the Courtenay area where funding is a barrier to participation.
