Tobogganers slid down Simms Millennium Park on Wednesday as schools were closed for the day.
A morning measurement found snow settled at 16 centimetres high at a weather station in north Courtenay, according to Armel Castellan, a meteorologist with Enivornment and Climate Change Canada. Castellan told the Record snow was also recorded as high as 20 centimetres in other parts of Comox Valley.
Just after 6 a.m., Comox Valley Schools announced closures across all of School District 71. The Record visited the local city park to snap a few photos of people enjoying their day off.
Due to the snow conditions currently impacting our area, all Comox Valley Schools will be closed today (Wednesday, January 17). This decision is made with the safety of our students, staff, and community as our top priority.
