Saltwater School, the Comox Valley’s only Waldorf-inspired education, will hold an information and registration evening next week.
This evening is open to all families who are interested in Waldorf education, and to individuals who themselves would like to know more about Waldorf education and the current Saltwater Initiative that is bringing Waldorf into the Comox Valley.
This is an evening of fun, insight and inspiration with special guest speaker Ruth Ker, founder of Duncan’s Sunrise Waldorf School. She will discuss a typical day in a Waldorf kindergarten and provide information about the unique tasks of the Waldorf curriculum. Ker has been teaching at the Duncan Waldorf School as the kindergarten teacher since it began in 1980, and is a popular presenter, author, and teacher for all to experience.
The evening will include activities such as singing and movement as well as a question period. Student work will be on display and Saltwater teachers will be available to answer specific questions.
Saltwater School is running preschool, kindergarten, Grade 1 and family programs as well as hosting community events throughout the year, such as A Winter Spiral (at Advent) and the Maypole Festival. After recently purchasing a space, the Saltwater School is looking forward to moving programs and events under one roof for fall 2011.
Information about programs will be provided at this evening and pre-registration will occur.
For parents wishing to register for fall 2011 (preschool age to Grade 2) application packages will be available to take home.
The event will run Feb. 16 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Creekside Commons in the Common House. To get to Creekside Commons, drive up Cumberland Road, turn left onto Arden and left again on Morello. Go straight, and please park in visiting parking only.
