Two days and 200 kilometres – the Cycle of Life Tour is set for 2017. With registration now open, volunteers at Comox Valley Hospice Society are encouraging other local riders to join this supported cycling tour which takes place this year on July 22 and 23.

Riders will be taken on an unforgettable cycle touring experience through the Saanich Inlet, Cowichan Valley and Gulf Islands. Cyclists will ride nearly 200 km of smooth country roads to raise critical funds in support of patients and families in need of compassionate end of life care.

Not a cyclist? You can also make tax deductible pledges to support registered riders and teams supporting the Comox Valley Hospice Society — be sure to use rider’s name or team (Zoomers and Pall Gals) by going to www.cycleoflifetour.ca Or stop by the Garage Sale on May 13 at 1798 Spruce Way in Comox (8 a.m. start) for some great finds with all funds supporting the local riders and teams.

Starting from downtown Victoria, on the first day riders cycle to Brentwood Bay and ferry over to Mill Bay, coast through the picturesque Cowichan Valley, then at Crofton ferry over to Salt Spring Island for the night. While on Salt Spring, cold beverages, hot showers, meals and entertainment are all provided. The next day the Tour crosses Salt Spring to Fulford Harbour, where the ferry takes riders to Swartz Bay. Back on Vancouver Island, the tour’s last leg is a ride through the countryside of the Saanich Peninsula before reaching the finish line back in Victoria.

The Tour is organized by Victoria Hospice, and funds raised by riders in the Comox Valley area will stay local, going to the Comox Valley Hospice Society. Participants help raise funds as a part of their registration.

Riders receive Tour jerseys. Local participants can take part in group rides and receive a training guide. With the ride capped at 80 cyclists, it’s good to register early.
