Team Chance of Vanier is hoping to get to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Destination Imagination world championships. They need our help to get there.

Early this month, 12 teams from local schools participated in the Destination Imagination Provincial Tournament, and Valley students continued the tradition of excellence, winning five provincial championships and three other top three finishes.

One hundred teams from British Columbia, the Yukon, and Alberta converged on Kwantlen Park Secondary School in Surrey to display their skills in critical and creative thinking, innovation, collaboration, communication, and problem solving. This is the pre-eminent venue to display the skills and aptitudes necessary for contemporary demands. Destination Imagination is the world’s foremost non-profit dedicated to teaching students the skills needed to succeed in school, their careers and beyond. More than 150,000 students participate annually in 31 countries.

GP Vanier had an amazing year in DI, winning provincial championships in an unprecedented three categories (Senior Improvisation, Senior Engineering and Junior Improvisation) as well as a second-place finish in Senior Improvisation. This was Vanier’s first year competing at the provincial level in Destination Imagination and the teams far exceeded expectations.

Team Managers Lori Mazey, Dan Comeau and Greg Kochanuk were understandably proud of their teams. One of Vanier’s teams, Team Chance, were not only provincial champions in the Middle Level of the Improvisation Challenge this year, but they are aiming to be the first team from GP Vanier ever to compete in the Global Finals competition held in Knoxville, Tenn.

These students represent the best and brightest in the Comox Valley, and they are fundraising desperately to help all team members attend this prestigious event. Costs are very high and these students are looking for the generosity of corporate partners as we move on to the next stage of this journey. Your contribution would be greatly appreciated.

We are accepting donations to our GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/ggrb5-support-our-dream

We also have accounts set up at the local bottle depots.

Folks can drop off their bottles and give the proceeds to Team Chance Improv.
