LUSH Valley offers local food in their Good Food Boxes from Comox Valley farms

Boxes are full of locally grown fresh fruit, vegetables and eggs.

With the threat of trade wars and climate instability, now is the time to buy local and support Comox Valley farmers. The evidence is clear: investing in our local food economy benefits us now and into the future.

Feeling overwhelmed trying to buy local and stick to your grocery budget? You can’t get more local or affordable than LUSH Valley’s Good Food Box, which contains locally-grown veggies, fruit and eggs sourced from up to 35 Comox Valley farms. Even with the snow falling, Boxes contain 80 per cent Comox Valley-local food, and contents are 100 per cent local for eight months of the year.

Show some local love and sign up for a Good Food Box subscription today to receive an affordable grocery bag full of locally-grown, farm-fresh produce and eggs on a recurring basis. You can choose between regular, large or extra-large size Boxes, starting at only $30.00, and shop for additional products like fruit preserves made in-house at LUSH Valley.

In 2024, LUSH Valley was able to purchase $188,650 worth of Comox Valley-grown foods through the Good Food Box program. But the organization needs your help to continue to support local farmers in 2025: in January, LUSH Valley lost funding on a major contract and, as a result, cannot purchase as much product as usual for the program.

“We are working hard to increase our Good Food Boxes by at least 100 units each week so we can continue to support our farmers at the levels we have since 2020,” says LUSH Valley’s Executive Director, Maurita Prato. “Through the climate crisis and more extreme weather events, and now through increased political instability to the south, it is more critical than ever that we invest in resilient communities with good food at the centre.”

Purchasing a Good Food Box is just one of many fun and delicious ways you can buy local: you can show your support for farmers and farm businesses by going to the Comox Valley Farmers Market or purchasing food at a local farm stand. If you are looking to help members of your community, you can give the gift of a Good Food Box, donating a Box to a family in need for only $29 – recurring subscriptions are also available!
