L’Arche Comox Valley is celebrating 10 years of the  annual ‘Art of Belonging’ program. In this program, people with and without intellectual disabilities work together to create in a variety of mediums and to share in a sense of belonging and community.

Over the past 10 years under the skilled guidance of artist Dean Bauche, they have created Picasso style self portraits, imagined themselves on the cover of magazines, made fused glass creations, sculptures out of driftwood and more.

L’Arche Comox Valley is incredibly grateful for the generosity of time, talent and heart of Dean Bauche who has run this program every year. This year, Dean was joined by artist and puppeteer Anna-Maria Lawrie as we embarked on a journey together to make puppets and learn to make them come alive.

Lawrie's presence was a great gift as she led us in all the ways of the puppet.

On Sunday March 9, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the public are invited to celebrate with L’Arche at the Little Red Church. You’ll have an opportunity to share in the joy and incredible creativity of this community and see the variety of puppets created all from the same starting point.

L’Arche Comox Valley is part of an organization across Canada and around the world.  In L’Arche, people with and without intellectual disabilities live, work, play and learn together. For more information about the L’Arche community, visit our website , our FaceBook or Instagram pages or call us at 250-334-8320.
