Lake Trail Community Education Society (LTCES) invites all community members to the third annual Community Connections Day on Saturday, June 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake Trail Community School.

This free event promises a diverse range of drop-in activities, workshops, food and fun for all ages.

In the morning, participants can help paint an outdoor mural, enjoy games in the gym, and discover the wonders of the Lake Trail Community Garden. Parents and caregivers with young children can try fun, therapeutic art activities. More than 15 community organizations will be on site to share information about their programs and provide engaging activities for community members.

A traditional Indigenous welcome and drumming will bring participants together before lunch. Lunch will be provided by the LTCES salad bar team.

鈥淥ur salad bar is supported by a group of incredible volunteers and is a weekly highlight for Lake Trail students. We are excited to share it with the community,鈥� said LTCES board chair, Lesia Wick.

The afternoon features a variety of workshops and activities. Youth are invited to attend a session on stress management and self care. Workshops for parents and caregivers include the Nurtured Heart Approach and ADHD in the Family. Free child care for children of workshop attendees is generously provided onsite by Puddleduck Early Learning Society. Folks of any age can play The Brain Game or embark on a Quest in the Morrison Creek Woods.

鈥淐ommunity Connections Day is about strengthening the ties that bind us,鈥� said Peter Lorian, event co-ordinator. 鈥淲ith over 20 free activities and workshops by local organizations, it鈥檚 a chance to nurture connections and learn together.鈥�
