Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North is putting out an urgent call for volunteers, to help with set-up, Aug. 20, and tear-down (Aug. 27) duties at the Comox Valley Exhibition.
“The Comox Valley Exhibition has given us a unique opportunity to make $2,000 to support our Lake Trail Road build,” said volunteer manager Terri Perrin in a press release. “Out of all of the non-profits in our community … they picked Habitat for Humanity. We sure appreciate that.”
But in order to earn the money, they need a few more hearty volunteers to help with the work.
A minimum of 10 volunteers are required on each of the above dates to help unpack items from a storage barn, transport them to various areas of the exhibition grounds using our black truck and trailer, and help set up one stage and a temporary storage structure. This volunteer opportunity requires the ability to lift and carry.
Sunday, Aug. 20 the work bee will go from 10 a.m. until about 4 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 27 will run from 5-9 p.m.
If everything is not cleaned up by nightfall on the 27, the work bee may continue on Monday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m. until finished. Set-up and tear-down will happen rain or shine.
• You will need to have steel-toed footwear and gloves. (We can supply slip-ons if you don’t have them.)
• You will be supplied with lunch or dinner and snacks.
