Saturday, Sept. 23 the Georgia Strait Big Band and the Comox Valley Child Development Association are hosting an amazing evening of fun, food and live entertainment at the inaugural “Chili and Denim” fundraiser. To be held in the upper ballroom of the Florence Filberg Centre, all proceeds will go towards construction of a new centre for children with Autism to be built at the child development site at the corner of Third Street and Cliffe Avenue.

The evening will feature some of the Comox Valley’s finest musicians, including Anela Kahiamoe, Edwin Grieve & The Dukes Band, Jacki Zbirun, and the 19-person Georgia Strait Big Band. With co-emcees Edwin Grieve and conductor Greg Bush, the fun begins at 5:30 p.m. A delicious chili dinner, including dessert, will be served for all in attendance.

Live entertainment starts at 6:45 followed by a big band Saturday dance featuring the Georgia Strait Big Band.

Make sure you bring your dancing shoes. “Our building improvement project will add vitally needed additional space for all our programs and create an environment that is specifically designed to meet the needs of children with Autism,” said CVCDA executive director Joanne Schroeder. “We are grateful to all of the musicians and sponsors for organizing this event on our behalf.” So, get your best denim on and enjoy a fun and entertaining evening while supporting the CVCDA. Get your tickets now. Tickets are $35 or $250 for a table of eight. Tickets are available in advance at The Laughing Oyster Book Store, Bop City and the office of Comox Valley Child Development Association.
