Comox Valley Nature will kick off its fall walk schedule with a guided public naturalist walk from Salmon Point to the Oyster River and back. Participants can get to enjoy one of the Valley’s best-known scenic foreshore areas with interpretive information on the geography and ecology of the site, and join Comox Valley Naturalists for a light lunch at the Salmon Point Pub afterwards.

The walk will be led by retired environmental educator and past-president of Comox Valley Nature, Dr. Loys Maingon. The walk is open to people of all ages and walks of life who are interested in nature and conservation. Interested participants are invited to meet at the trailhead, just before the Salmon Point Pub parking lot Saturday, Sept. 2 at 9:30 a.m. The trail is flat, and mostly along the ocean front, but participants should wear solid footwear.

CVN will also be hosting three other public walks this fall to Elk Falls (Sept. 16); Battleship Lake Mushroom Walk (Oct. 1), and the Dulcie Hamilton Memorial Mushroom Walk at Nymph Falls (Nov. 5). Details to be released closer to the event, should be posted on the society’s website, https://comoxvalleynaturalist.bc.ca/
