Father’s Day Kite Fly celebrates its 34th anniversary

Family and friends of all ages are invited to enjoy some time at the beach and observe the kites flying through the sky. 

Come out to the 34th Annual Father’s Day Kite Fly on June 16, at Goose Spit Park, from 12 to 3 p.m. Registration will run from noon to 1:00 p.m. and the event is free for everyone. 

Attendees are encouraged to bring their kites but are advised to fly them safely and be aware of the power lines neighbouring the perimeter. 

Trophies and prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories, such as peoples’ choice, stunt kite, oldest pilot, largest kite, hard-luck flyer, homemade kite, and more. Judging and prizes take place from 1:30 to 2:15 pm. 

Since parking is limited at Goose Spit Park,  a park-and-ride service will be available at Brooklyn Elementary, located at 1290 Guthrie Road, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
