On Monday, August 19, Leslie Cox, aka ‘The Duchess of Dirt’ will be the guest speaker at the Comox Valley Horticultural Society meeting.

Cox will share some garden beauties which wait until the fall to come in to their true colours. She’ll also take attendees on a journey through a few gardens which have some desirable plant specimens which bring joy to every gardener from summer through to fall.

Cox is an accomplished author who is passionate about plants and nature and loves to share her knowledge.

Along with her husband, John, they were the driving force behind the “Green Sprouts School Garden Program” in SD 71 which taught over 2,000 students and teachers about soil stewardship and how to grow food organically.

"There’s lots going on August meeting, not only is there an excellent speaker but there’s also a garden arrangements display and contest," a release from the society says.

Want to attend? If you’re joining us in person, we’ll be at the conference hall in the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay.

Doors open at 6.30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7.15 p.m.

To join via Zoom, see below for registration details.

Advanced registration for Zoom is required for both members and non-members. Current members will receive a separate Zoom invitation.
