On Monday, August 19, Leslie Cox, aka 鈥楾he Duchess of Dirt鈥� will be the guest speaker at the Comox Valley Horticultural Society meeting.

Cox will share some garden beauties which wait until the fall to come in to their true colours. She鈥檒l also take attendees on a journey through a few gardens which have some desirable plant specimens which bring joy to every gardener from summer through to fall.

Cox is an accomplished author who is passionate about plants and nature and loves to share her knowledge.

Along with her husband, John, they were the driving force behind the 鈥淕reen Sprouts School Garden Program鈥� in SD 71 which taught over 2,000 students and teachers about soil stewardship and how to grow food organically.

"There鈥檚 lots going on August meeting, not only is there an excellent speaker but there鈥檚 also a garden arrangements display and contest," a release from the society says.

Doors open at 6.30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7.15 p.m.
