The holiday season is not always a happy time for everyone.
Grief, sadness, disappointment, and at times despair, are realities that many people experience during this time of year. These feelings are magnified with songs, movies, and advertisements which try to convince us that this is the 鈥渉appiest鈥� time of year.
A Blue Christmas service, held on the longest night of the year, seeks to hold space honour and create room for the grief that many in our community might be experience.
St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Courtenay is offering 鈥楤lue Christmas: A Service of Comfort and Hope鈥� at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21.
The service will be accompanied by the Threshold Choir. St. John鈥檚 is located at 579- 5th Street in Courtenay. The church entrance is on Harmston Avenue.
