BC Youth Week is May 1 to 7, and The LINC Youth Centre invites Comox Valley youth to come and celebrate!
Tuesday, May 2: Youth 8 - 11 years are invited to a special Tween Dance. There will be a DJ, light show, and lots of prizes. Tickets are $5; doors open at 3 p.m. and the dance runs 4-7 p.m.
Wednesday, May 3: Youth 11-18 years will receive a complimentary ice-cream float and bring a friend for two-for-one drop-in.
On Thursday, May 4, The LINC and Onethirtythree Boardshop are hosting a free May the Fourth Be With You Skate Jam complete with best trick competitions, Chewbacca Impressions, hot-dog eating contest and lots prizes for youth 9-18 years. It all begins at 4 p.m.
Friday, May 5: The LINC will be hosting its 8th annual Young Ones vs. Old Ones FREE Mini Hockey Tournament. Register your team now or be at The LINC at 5 p.m., with games starting at 5:30 p.m. The top youth teams battle each other in the finals, and the winning team will take on ‘The Old Ones’ for the Waka Cup.
Saturday, May 6: The LINC is hosting a new event: the Gnarly Little Spring Craft Fair featuring talented youth crafters and entrepreneurs. The craft fair runs 11am-3pm at the Lewis Centre Activity Room (489 Old Island Highway).To finish the week off, all youth are invited to a FREE Youth Week wrap-up party &BBQ; doors open at 3pm.
“We hope lots of youth will come to The LINC for Youth Week,” says Alexis Forbes, Youth Services Coordinator at The LINC, “All activities celebrate local youth and recognize the diversity that youth bring to the Comox Valley. We also have daily door prizes during Youth Week, so for youth who haven’t been to The LINC before, it’s a great time to check it out!”
