Courtenay & District Fish & Game club celebrates National Range Day Canada with open house

The Courtenay & District Fish & Game Protective Association is teaming up with the BC Wildlife Federation and the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights to recognize National Range Day Canada on Saturday, June 3.

The Courtenay & District Fish & Game Protective Association is teaming up with the BC Wildlife Federation and the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights to recognize National Range Day Canada on Saturday, June 3.

The event runs from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Come out to discover all the CDFGPA has to offer at its scenic location on Comox Lake. The family-friendly open house event involves tours and interactive activities that provide an opportunity for participants to try a wide variety of shooting sports with free and paid packages available.

There is no cost to participate in the introductory portion of most of the target sports which can include 5-10 shots per activity. For those enthusiastic visitors, there are a variety of paid shooting packages available.

Experienced volunteers will provide one-on-one guidance and instruction to ensure safe and responsible firearm use for the range activities.

All firearms and munitions will be provided at the range, so attendees are asked not to bring their own firearms.

Demonstrations of various target sports will be put on by highly skilled members at regular intervals throughout the day.

In addition, the CDFGPA will be offering family fishing, a hatchery tour, a spring craft show and an onsite lunch option from our clubhouse kitchen.

What you can expect:

• Archery range facility and 3-D target trail tour. Try your archery skills for free with equipment and supervision provided.

• Tour the campground and private beach.

• Black powder range facility -Historic firearms to try with one-on-one supervision

• Clubhouse and social events including a craft fair and food service.

• Tour Conservation’s hatchery

• Cowboy Action at Boomtown - Canada’s largest Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) facility

• Family fishing at the pond.

• 25- and 100-yard range facilities

• Shotgun facility, which includes trap, skeet, and youth program.

Upon arrival at 3780 Colake Road, follow the instructions provided by the parking attendants to the upper parking area where regular shuttle service will take you around the property to visit all the facilities and activities.

Representatives from the BCWF and the CCFR will be on site with information and programs.
