Seal Bay Regional Nature Park boasts 42 kilometres of recreational trails, with pedestrian-only trails and multi-use trails for horses and bikes.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) invites community participation in shaping the future of its Regional Parks and Trails Strategic Plan.

Valuable insights from Phase One, provided by interest groups and partners, have influenced the emerging directions for planning, managing, and investing in new regional parks and trails for the next 20+ years in the Comox Valley.

With Phase Two, the focus is on sharing these emerging directions widely with the community, encouraging dialogue, and understanding community priorities for the future. Residents are urged to attend any of the five in-person community open houses scheduled between Jan. 24 and Feb. 7, or participate in the virtual session on Feb. 8 via Zoom. The community survey is available both online () and in hard copy at open house events until Feb. 19.

Ways to get involved:

Jan. 24 – Cumberland Chamber | 4:30 – 6:30 pm

Jan. 30 – Union Bay Community Hall | 4:30 – 6:30 pm

Jan. 31 – Comox Community Centre Room A | 4:30 – 6:30 pm

Feb. 6 – Courtenay Florence Filberg Centre (Conference Hall) | 4:30 – 6:30 pm

Feb. 7 – Merville Community Hall | 4:30 – 6:30 pm

Feb. 8 – Virtual Information Session (Zoom) |Registration Required | 12 -1:15 pm

Daniel Arbour, chair of the Regional Parks and Trails committee, emphasizes the centrality of feedback in the process, welcoming input from K’ómoks First Nation representatives, local and regional interest groups, and the general public.

“We look forward to hearing the views of many Comox Valley residents on the priorities for the new regional parks service,” said Arbour.

All feedback collected during the engagement in January and February will play a crucial role in drafting the Regional Parks and Trails Strategic Plan, expected to be completed in spring 2024. Anticipating Phase Three engagement for reviewing the draft plan in the summer, the CVRD seeks active community involvement in shaping the future of regional parks and trails in the Comox Valley.
