The Comox Valley Child Development Association is thanking the Comox Valley Lions Club for decades of support.
This month, Cindy Xavier, Executive Director of CVCDA, and Pam Crowe, CVCDA Ambassador and Telethon Chair, visited the CVLC to express their gratitude and share exciting expansion plans. During the meeting, CVLC President Brad Mulhall presented the CVCDA with a generous donation, reinforcing the club’s ongoing commitment to children and families in the community.
"We are incredibly grateful for the support of this wonderful club and its dedicated members, who work tirelessly to raise funds for vital community initiatives," said Xavier.
However, as service clubs across the region face declining membership, the CVLC recently issued a public call for volunteers, emphasizing the need for new members to sustain their longstanding efforts. With other clubs struggling or closing, there is growing concern about the future of these essential community organizations.
For decades, the CVLC and other service clubs—including Rotary Clubs, the Legion, and more—have played a critical role in supporting the CVCDA, particularly through donations at the Annual Children's Telethon. These contributions are vital in ensuring the organization can continue to meet the needs of children and families in the Comox Valley.
As volunteer-driven organizations, service clubs are the backbone of many local initiatives. Their fundraising and community work have been instrumental in shaping the Comox Valley’s growth and development. With the demands of modern life busier than ever, it is easy to take these contributions for granted.
The CVCDA encourages community members to consider joining a service club to help strengthen and sustain these invaluable organizations. A small investment of time and energy can make a significant impact in ensuring that support continues for generations to come.
