The Comox Valley Kennel Club (CVKC) and Glacier View Kennel Club (GVKC) will both be hosting dog shows this summer, including one coming up this weekend.

Pacific Playgrounds at Saratoga Beach is the site for the CVKC show, June 8-10.

The GVKC competition will take place at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds Aug. 9-11.

The upcoming show at Pacific Playgrounds features many interactive opportunities for those in attendance.

There will be a chance to engage with expert breeders to discuss what type of dog is perfect for your family. Information about dog training will also be available.

The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) Canine Good Neighbor Evaluation is a special feature at the CVKC show this year on Saturday, June 8. Attendees can observe or participate in the Canadian Kennel Club’s Canine Good Neighbor evaluation, a program designed to recognize well-behaved dogs. The evaluation is open to any purebred or mixed-breed dog. Pre-registering is $30, $40 for day of drop-in, if interested visit for more information.

CVKC has partnered with Dr. Hebe Lin, a veterinary with Epic Veterinary Hospital, to offer BAER testing on all three days of the June show. BAER (brainstem auditory evoked response) is a qualitative hearing test that can determine if a dog can or cannot hear in one or both ears. The test does not determine how well the dog can hear. This test is available to any dog. The testing fee is $65.

“We welcome everyone, from seasoned dog lovers to curious newcomers to experience the joy and excitement of our local dog shows,” reads a press release. “It’s more than just a competition; it’s a community celebration of our four-legged friends. Please note only dogs entered in an event are permitted on the grounds. Free admission for spectators. No seating provided.
