Comox school district hosts public speaking contest

The Comox Valley School district is holding its fourth annual public speaking contest.

The competition will be held at the Stan Hagen Theatre at North Island College on April 5 at 7 p.m. This event is open to the public at no charge.

Students from each school have been competing at different levels in both French and English to qualify for this final competition. They have competed at their school level for the honor of representing their school in the district competition.

Courtesy of Dr. David Carmichael, a longtime proponent of the importance of public speaking, this contest offers bursaries for the advancement of student education whether it is university or a trade school.

You're invited to cheer on these young people as they compete in an event that makes many of us cringe.

If you need information, call 250 339 5432.
